Does a Post-64 ring set fit a pre-64 Model 70?
No. Winchester changed the receiver and extractor design substantially in 1964, and mounting hardware for one generation typically doesn't fit the other. Confirm which generation your rifle is (pre-64 controlled-round-feed rifles are the more collectible and valuable of the two) before ordering rings.
What makes controlled-round feed different from a push-feed action?
A controlled-round-feed bolt grips the cartridge rim under the extractor claw from the moment it leaves the magazine, rather than letting the round push forward loose until it reaches the chamber. That's traditionally considered more reliable at odd angles, like firing uphill or on a steep incline, which is why it's prized on dangerous-game rifles.
Does the Model 70 need different cleaning gear than other bolt actions?
No, standard bore brushes, solvent, and CLP sized to your specific caliber cover it the same as any centerfire rifle.
